For the 2024 season, queen reservations have begun.
Order by e-mail (info@mieldelagarde.com) or telephone (579-888-3728) only.
Fertilized queen of the year.
Our main selection criterion is resistance to varroa destructor.
Here are our other selection criteria:
- Frugality (low consumption of wintering resources);
- Hardiness and ability to overwinter in small bunches;
- Hygienic behaviour;
- Propolis production;
- Honey production;
- Docility.
We favour genetic diversity. Our initial genetic background comes from several Quebec beekeepers (John Forest, Yves Castera, Léo Buteau, Anicet Desrochers, Marie-Ève Cyr, Félix Lapierre, Robert Gaudreau, Michel Lauzon and Maggie Lamothe Boudreau) and from more distant strains such as Saskatraz and Primorsky from Bâton-Rouge.
In 2022, we integrated CRSAD queens into our flock.
Breeds present in the flock: Apis mellifera mellifera, Apis mellifera ligustica and Apis mellifera carnica.
All our colonies overwinter outdoors, individually, without grouping.
